A trigraph is a phoneme that consists of three letters. A digraph is a phoneme that consists of two letters. I will be sharing consonant 9 worksheets for ‘thr shr spl spr scr str’ words. ‘squ words’ are also included. I have used short vowel words.
I have also prepared a trigraphs word list for the ‘shr spl spr scr str squ’ words. You can read the words and highlight the trigraph. This trigraphs list can also be used as a special education resource.
The worksheets that I am sharing today will give your child ample practice for trigraphs.
The first three worksheets are for sorting trigraph words.
The above trigraphs worksheet is for str scr spr words like strap, scrap, sprig, etc. Cut the word tiles and have the children read the short vowel trigraph words and then paste them in the correct box.
The next worksheet is for ‘shr spl squ’ words like shrub, split, squib, etc. Cut the word tiles and have the children read the short vowel trigraph words and then paste them in the correct box.
The last word sort worksheet is for ‘thr scr shr’ words like throb, scrimp, shrimp, etc. Cut the word tiles and have the children read the short vowel trigraph words and then paste them in the correct box.
Read the trigraphs words in the word bank and write them in the correct box by identifying the pictures.
The next 4 worksheets are ‘cut and paste the trigraphs.
Identify the six pictures in the above worksheet, cut the trigraph tiles, and paste them under the correct picture to complete the words. The words in the above trigraphs worksheet are straw, sprout, scream, shrew, throat, and splinter. These worksheets will also enhance vocabulary. Children may not be able to identify most of the pictures. Parents and teachers should help children with the pictures and have them identify the trigraphs.
Identify the six pictures in the above worksheet, cut the trigraph tiles, and paste them under the correct picture to complete the words. The words in the above trigraphs worksheet are strainer, spray, shrug, throne, screen, and spleen.
Cut the trigraph tiles, and paste them under the correct picture to complete the words. The words in the above worksheet are thread, shrink, screw, street, spread, and square.
The last trigraphs cut and paste worksheet has pictures for words like sprain, three, stream, squirt, shriek, and scribble. Cut and paste the trigraphs tiles to complete the words.
In the last worksheet, identify the pictures and unscramble the letters to form the correct word. The words are shred, thrust, strap, scrap, sprint, and squint.
