sh words list
A digraph is two letters that make just one sound. A consonant digraph is two adjacent consonants that produce one sound. s and h are two consonants that come together to form a new sound, the /sh/ sound. In this post, I will be sharing five phonics words list focusing on digraph sh. These digraph worksheets include only short vowel words.
The first worksheet is to read words beginning with ‘sh.’ These free printables for teachers can be used for the classroom or can be given as homework. Children often tend to confuse the sh sound with beginning sound s. These worksheets have enough words to practice and understand the sh sound.
These worksheets can be complemented with Digraph sh worksheets. This pack is ideal for introducing four-letter digraph words to kindergarten.
The next digraph worksheet concentrates on words ending with sh sound. Read and highlight the ‘sh’ sound with colors.
‘sh sound’ is often confused with the ‘ch sound.’ I have prepared a set of educational worksheets to help discriminate between the sh and ch sound.
The above five letter words worksheet digraph and blends. I have included beginning blend words as well as ending blend words. I would suggest coloring only /sh/ sound so that the child understands that these two words are read together.
These worksheets can be complemented with Digraph sh Pack 2.
