s blends activities
Consonant blends which are also known as consonant clusters can be defined as two or more consonants together in which each consonant is pronounced, with no vowel sounds in between them. To practice consonant s blends, I have created this s blends activities pdf .
This printable resource for teachers can also be used to revisit consonant blends st, sk, sm, sn, sp, sc, sl and sw words.

There are 9 sheets with 4 cards printed on each sheet. That makes it 36 cards in all.You will need to print these s blends pictures and word sheets and cut them into cards. Print these picture cards on card stock and laminate them for durability.

This blends game also includes CVC words, words ending in -ck and double consonant ff, ll and ss words.

You can find more phonics games and activities to teach children in a fun way. Do try them.

Do not forget to practice some dictation with children once they are done playing the game. In my experience children typically record just one of the two blend sounds when spelling. For example, ‘skip’ is spelled sip; spat is spelled sat; stick is spelled sick etc. I try and stress on the consonant blend as much as possible when this happens.
