

s-blend words FlashCards
This flashcard pack has consonant s blend st, sl, sm, sn, sp, sc, sl and sw words with pictures, which will help our little learners discriminate among these blends.
In my experience children typically record just one of the two blend sounds when spelling. For example, ‘step’ is spelled sep; scam is spelled sam; snack is spelled sack, etc. I try and stress on the consonant blend as much as possible when this happens.
These seven ‘s blends’ are by far the most challenging and confusing not only for children but also for adults.
Mistakes in writing words with these blends are quite common. Therefore, I suggest you begin with l-blends flashcards and r-blends flashcards before moving on to s blend words.
These flashcards can also be used with dyslexic children to practice reading one-syllable ‘sc sk st sm sn sp sw tw’ words. These flashcards can add fun to your lessons. These flashcards can also be used when revisiting the sounds.
‘sp’ is an initial consonant blend or cluster. In this pack, there are six ‘sp words’ flashcards. These ‘sp words’ with pictures are also a great way to enhance your child’s vocabulary.
There are 6 cards on each of the 7 A4 sheets. You will need to print these sheets and cut them into cards. Print these flashcards on card stock and laminate them for durability. These flashcards can be used for a long time if they are laminated.
The above worksheet has for the sw blend. ‘tw’ blend is also included.
