magic e word list with long a

magic e word list with long a

There are five vowels in the English language but they make a variety of sounds. Vowel ‘a’ make the short sound in ‘nap’ but the long sound in ‘nape.’ When combined with i(ai) and y(ay), a makes the long vowel sound as in sail, say, tail, bay, etc. Understanding vowel sounds can be quite challenging for our little ones because of this reason. In this post, we will be discussing how to make the long a sound with the help of Magic e. When e comes at the end of a word, it remains silent but it changes the short vowel sound in the word into a long vowel sound.¬† Teaching this rule is extremely important since there are a ton of words with Magic e. Understanding this rule will help kids read the magic e words with ease.

‘Magic E’ is also called ‘Bossy e’ or ‘Silent e.’

There are 11-word lists for -ace words, -ade words, -age words, -ake words, -ale words, -ame words, -ane words, -ape words, -are words, -ate words and -ave words.

ake words list for kindergarten and first grade

The first words list is for -ake words. Bake, rake, cake, lake, make, wake, stake, brake, shake, flake, etc. are long vowel a words with magic e.

Teaching the concept of magic e can be a lot of fun. Magic e has magical powers. It can jump over a consonant. It is so bossy that when it comes at the end of a word it stays silent. But it jumps over the consonant in front of it, taps the vowel, and orders it to say its name.

Let’s take an example.

Pan had the short a sound. When we add magic e to it, it becomes pane. Magic ‘e’ jumps over the consonant ‘n’ and taps ‘a’ asking it to say its name. Magic e remains silent.
