They are quick and fun for revisiting or practicing vowel sounds. I have focused on CVC words with pictures in this pdf. There are separate worksheets for each short vowel sound ‘a e i o u.’
The above worksheet focuses on short vowel sound u words.
Identify the pictures and color the pictures that have the short vowel u sound in them.
Gun, sad, sub, tag, hut, cup, bus, bug, and cut are the pictures. The child has to sound out the letters of each picture and decide if it has the short vowel u sound. It can be quite challenging.
The next worksheet focuses on the short vowel ‘a’ sound.
The pictures are fan, sun, mat, gas, jam, hut, web, cap, van and cop.
Color the pictures with the ‘short vowel a sound.’ You can also have the child write the CVC words for practice.
