ck ending words worksheets Pack 2
Why do some words end in ck and others in k? Certain words like end in ck when you hear the /k/ sound right after a short vowel in a single syllable word.
Example:
si ck – sick
ne ck – neck
pa ck – pack
sho ck – shock
tru ck – truck
In the above words, the words end in ck because the /k/ sound comes right after the short vowel. You can read about the ‘spelling rule ck’ in detail by clicking on the anchor chart above.
